Steak Bites and Merlot Gravy

Sometimes I come across ideas for a recipe that I think, if I change a few things I know this will be a hit with my husband, because as a wife I sometimes have to make meals that are more up his alley than my alley.  This Beef Tips recipe was one of those, but then I realized that if I added Merlot to this recipe it could be more up my alley too and boy was it!  I usually ALWAYS cook to much and being a family of two we always have TONS of leftovers, but not this time!  This meal is so good, the whole family will love it and it is super easy to make.  We have definitely added this meal to our month rotation.

Steak Tips in Wine Sauce

  • 1 packet dry brown gravy
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp garlic salt
  • ½ lb beef tips
  • 1 (16oz) package sliced mushrooms
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 can beef broth
  • ¼ cup Merlot wine
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. In a large bowl combine dry gravy, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, beef tips, beef broth and Merlot wine. Cover and marinate in the fridge for a minimum of 2 hours.
  2. Once marinated, pour contents of bowl into a large saucepan and cook until steak is no longer pink inside.
  3. While the steak is cooking, in a small saucepan saute the mushrooms and onions with the vegetable oil until the onion is translucent.
  4. When both the steaks and vegetables are done combine both in the large skillet, stir, salt and pepper to taste, and serve!

This dish can be served over either rice or noodles!
