Apple Dumpling

Apple Dumpling

Any dessert that contains apples is a hands-down hit in this house, which is why when I came across this recipe a while ago I knew it was one we were going to love, and we were not disappointed!  This apple dumpling dessert is so good, I make all 8 dumplings even though it is just for my husband and I knowing that we will eat every last one.  Try them fresh out of the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  So yummy!

Apple Dumplings
Dessert

Ingredients
  • 1 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • ½ cup butter
  • ¾ cups white sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • ½ can Mountain Dew

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease individual cooking bowls or a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cut each apple into 8 wedges and set aside. Separate the crescent roll dough into triangles.
  3. Coat each apple wedge with cinnamon and sugar and roll each wedge into a crescent roll starting at the smallest end. Pinch to seal and place in baking dish or bowls.
  4. Melt butter in a saucepan and stir in sugar. Continue cooking, while stirring constantly, the butter and sugar mixture until it is well blended and thickens.
  5. Stir in the cinnamon and vanilla into the mixture.
  6. Pour butter and sugar mixture equally over the apple dumplings.
  7. Pour Mountain Dew equally over the dumplings.
  8. Bake for 35 – 45 minutes or until golden brown.
